What this site is
Mandarin For Trip publishes practical spoken Mandarin phrases for travelers visiting mainland China, together with short cultural notes. It is an educational travel resource. It is not a translation service, a professional interpreting service, a legal or medical service, or an official source of information from any government.
Accuracy, and its limits
We take accuracy seriously and review phrases for everyday usage. Even so, language changes by region, generation and context, and Mandarin as spoken in Harbin is not identical to Mandarin in Kunming. Names of dishes, ticket rules, payment methods and prices change constantly.
The content is provided for general guidance. It is not a guarantee that a specific phrase will produce a specific result in a specific place. Where accuracy matters — medical statements, allergy communication, legal or official matters — verify with a qualified human being, such as a hotel manager, a doctor or a translator, rather than relying on a website.
Permitted use
You are welcome to use this site freely for your own travel preparation. You may:
